Is there any possibility of organizing a statewide charity drive sponsored by IV state chapters during the holiday season. This is the season of giving. Why not organize it through IV state chapters. Proceeds can be donated to charities as suggested by donors. We can target
employers, congressmen, senators, relatives, friends....even anti immigrants will donate.
Anybody with prior experience of such fund raising, please comment. We also need to come up with a slogan for this campaign (It may be better if the slogan in itself is not related to immigration) . Some of my friends who used AC21 moved to jobs having salary more than 50% of their current one. All got their GCs approved and didn't have any issues. But from what i read from multiple sites, the salary should never go below the one that's mentioned in LCA.

fired shortly after becoming a citizen. I am from a country other than yours. Sorry about that. There is no particular website that represents immigration from the country I immigrated from.
The employer replaced me with a visa card holder. After I trained him, I was fired and my boss was fired.
I am a skilled programmer with advanced degree. Employers from the dice.com website refuse to even acknowledge my resumes. Being unemployed is no way to be a new citizen. So I am ready to give up searching and move to India,in search of programming work. All I want to do is write code. I do not desire to make a point or to annoy anyone, I just want to work and write source code and try to get on with my life.
What are my chances to find work with the giant IT corporations of India? I am ready to move today. Can I revoke my US citizenship and immigrate to your country??? Sorry sorry sorry if this offends anyone, I do not mean to annoy any of you. I just want to have a job and write code and I will be on my way.

This is not a genuine post....This person says that he/she was replaced by a "visa card holder". If this person has survived the pain then he/she would know what terminology to use. This person talks about a "country other than yours". What does this person mean. And of course this person lost his/her job "because" he/she became a citizen. So this person suddenly became incompetent after becoming a citizen. We may be suffering but we are not exactly idiots.

We are in New York but if we ever come to Seattle we would love to meet you guys. How did you manage to get EAD for your wife? Is it possible on H4 before I-485 is filed and pending?
We would love to have a baby next year and hope that my hubby will be able to work by then...otherwise it is one income and three of us :(

I think it is best to get your H1B stamped in India and also carry AP with you (if possible) as a back up. Stamping in home country is the BEST and SAFEST. I do not know why so many people get it stamped in Mexico and Canada. Previously, when you could still enter US from Canada with a refused visa,it made sense, but now if they reject your visa you need to fly to India!!!
But, once you enter using your AP, can you switch back to H1B or you have to use your EAD?

Hi,
Would like to throw some more ideas;
You should keep in mind that with this economy there is no guarantee of your job (my personal experience).
If you want to stay in this country and that is one of your foremost desires/aim
then in my opinion it is always better to aim for the GC and then do whatever you have to do.
If you have option of going back to your home country and do not mind (due to job loss or other situation) then by all means go for career.

I have a similar issue, Applied for a EAD that is expiring in Sep08 on June10th08, Got EAD approved from NSC on July7th and saw that the new EAD Card is valid from 01/01/08 to 01/01/09, so in effect its extended by 4 months.
Planning to call NSC to see what I can do,

Usually7 level1 officers have no info..so try to see if u can reach a level3 customer officer..i will contact uscis again this afternoon and will post the outcome.

There's nothing new in that website. EB-2 India for entire FY is GONE.. FINIS.. KHATAM... KHALLAS.
Theoretically there might be some spillover if EB-3 RoW doesn't get used. But with namecheck requirements lifted and EB-3 RoW advanced so early, I doubt there's going to be any spillover.
Bottomline - wait till Oct for EB-2 India. Big question is at what date will it open and how fast will it move. Well, we saw how EB-2 became unavailable even after retrogressing to Jan 2000. So not much hope of going beyond 2001, even after Oct....

My wife's current H4 is valid till Nov. She got her H1 also approved from Oct'2007. She checked the status this morning only on USCIS.
I'm applying for I-485 and adding her as spouse. Should I file for her advance parole and put her status as H4 in it? What happens to to her H1 approval, if advanced parole gets approved also. Will she loose her H1 status?

no. The point was that neither of these companies do H1B abuse (small bodyshoppers in the US do), and trying to mix up immigration related rhetoric with international business is not a good idea.
If the senators had an issue, there are standard channels with which these can be taken up (both at ministries as well as trade-group levels). Public letters from these senators to the CEOs of our companies were essentially a publicity stunt to win votes and not a constructive way to find out if there is a problem and how it can be fixed. So in the same vein the NASSCOM reply is a broad response with good subtle hints that mixing immigration with India's business interests is not a good idea.

if what you said is correct then if dates move forward then people at NSC are going to get far more GC than TSC because 485 applications have been pre processed at NSC and TSC will not be able to match NSC in issuing GC
No TSC is not. TSC goes by priority date and not processing date. TSC I have seen follows different processing style. For e.g. if your namecheck/security check or some kind of check is pending they dont send you FP notice. Also they process applications if your PD is current/close to recent bulletin.

Thanks. I will go back and reshoot this and experiment a bit. The scene wasn't lit by harsh light - high cloud as I recall. I actually deepended the shadows intentionally in the PS CS2 RAW converter - the original wasn't as contrasty. What is interesting is that while the actual exposure of the blown area should be well within tolerances (If I were still shooting B&W film I would have guessed it at around zone 8) it is just the one colour that is blown - and yellow is not one of the 3 channels so it must have actualy been 2 colours. I will have to keep an eye on my histogram display because I don't have the $ for a 1DSMkII!
Digital SLRs are like slide film - the dynamic range is more limited than negative film. FWIW, when you end up with detail-less yellows, the red channel is probably the one that has blown. Good luck with your tests. :)
