If Democrats win CIR will be passed including relief for legals. But since USCIS will be deluged with (no surprise - no money to tackle the load) it will be an "unofficial retrogression" which Texas service center has always had. A lot of people with 01 and 02 priority dates were "current" for a long time, then it was incompetance and delays at TSC, later it was retrogression.
If republicans win (slim chance they will hold on to the majority in both house and senate assuming Foley scandal does not cause much more damage) then CIR is in the waste basket. Though Agjobs will come back because labor shortage is causing havoc on fruit farms and fruit is rotting on trees. Skill bill is guarenteed, but very little legalization for illegals.
Some people here seem to have a lot of hopes on the Democrats. But the proceedings of the CIR bill showed likes of senators from ND (which by no stretch of mind is affected by illegals!), CA (Diane), IL (Obama) how much they were against legal immigration. Other than Cornyn and to some extent Specter I did not see much sympathy for the legal immigrants. Even the Hispanics have realized Obama is against legalization and are now reconsidering support for him.
As to some ones request to remove posts critical of one or the other political party - as long as the discussion is civil, there is nothing wrong in analyzing the situation and predicting the future. If anything, those Democrats who are subtly anti-legal immigration will realize they are drawing new immigrants (who are traditionally democratic at least initially) in the arms of republicans.

We can ask this question during our next attorney conference call. Please remember to ask. I will ask. If a couple of more people ask, then our attorney will definitely answer the question.
Another way is to ask the question in Rajiv Khanna's forums. Again, if a couple of people ask the same question, the question will get prominence and Mr. Khanna would definitely answer the question.
Did any one discussed this with an attorney. May be a conference call with Mr. Rajiv Khanna ? Can anyone from IV core member respond what is their take on such a class action. Will we have the support from IV if such lawsuit is filled.
Again i strongly believe our only way out of this mess especially for EB3 India is lawsuit.

I can tell you there are roughly 100,000 labor applications filed (50,000 EB3) between Aug 2003 and Dec 2003 for EB India category. The reason was everybody wanted to clear thru regular process before PERM takes over. Those Labors filed after Aug 2003 and before PERM started are moved into backlog and are fully cleary last 4 th quarter. And so 90% of those EB3s may be still there (45,000) hanging. EB2s could have been cleared substantially till Dec 2003. It is all my guess work and not sceintific or factual. also ..this looks very inaccurate ..because I know lot of indians who got H1 during the peak (when h1 was 195k) have gone back. i.e either they got better oppurtunities back home or just went back as they were not getting jobs. I did stay in one of the guest house which had lots of consultants ..none of them are here anymore !!

If there is a revised bulletin which shows that your Priority Date is retrogressed then your's will be thrown off ....

For god's sake, I was qualified all the way since June 1st. I gave all the documents necessary by June 6th itself. Well, but they had to file on 29th.

I don't usually comment on such posts and I have seen a lot of people take the side I am about to take. I just think you are being unnecessarily rude. It is these people and their opinions that cause IV to exist as a group. Lets say you are going to lock membership only to people paying a membership fee every month. How big a group are you going to get?
If it is going to be significant, then maybe that's the way IV should go and should just shut down public forums where there are members who can talk and members who have "not bought their right to talk"
I bring up the "monthly membership" issue because I did make donations on multiple occasions (you should probably look up your records and verify). And yet, under the new design, I am not a donor, I do not get access to the exclusive threads that only the privileged monthly members do. So, just like the OP, I am a thankless member who thinks the group is thankless. So, I do not know what initiatives IV has taken, but yet, I linger around the forums because it has so many smart people throwing around ideas, working on theories and just being friendly.
Maybe you should just create a little forum of yours in one corner and put walls around so no one can come in and make suggestions about things you won't tell them about. Does it take that much effort to be nice to someone? Just remember that he is free to tell you what to do irrespective of who he is. What you actually do is upto you. Just be nice for a change, it will make you get a whole new perspective on life!

I am a physician working in underserved areas in MN. I am greatly appreciated
in my community. I regularly get invited to Christmas parties by local congressmen. I never attend those due to my family obligations. However, this year I will attend and educate my congressmen as much as I can.
I am sure there are lot of physicians, like me affected by retrogression. Eventhough we live in remote areas, we can do whtever we can.
I am also willing to join in MN local chapter of IV. Any MN members kindly send me PM.
pls post your note on the Mn local state chapter thread and get in touch with other members.

I have read in a few places that we plan to send flowers on 11, and 12th also?
If that is the case then the document has to be updated to include those dates. Also, I suggest collecting emails and fax numbers and assigning a few people to do the actual "sending". This will make it easier to coordinate.
11th and 12th were added later because by Saturday evening when the core team decided to support this campaign, we weren't entirely sure if delivery on the 10th was still possible.
However, majority of flowers are going to be delivered on the 10th so I wanted to keep the focus on that single date.
If you want to go ahead with co-ordinating the actual sending then please go ahead - I think it will be very helpful.

I-485 approval letter
Passports
I told them it�s almost one a month, I didn�t get my card yet. Then they gave me a token number and when my turn came. I met the USCIS officer he wasn�t much help at all. he just gave me 551 stamp for 1yr and when I asked him about biometric he said last year I took in Oct-07 its good till next month and I don�t need it.
I was expecting 551 stamp look like h1 visa stamp, but it�s just an ordinary stamp.
After coming home I called USCIS asked them about the card. She told me that card was sent out for production today and I should get it within 1 week to 30 days. Because it was sent out today that�s the reason I didn�t get the email update

I have a feeling that the restrictionists may seek to attach HR 6283 along with the SKIL Bill to any appropriations bill...the restrionists have long been trying to cut family immigration (which they call chain migration)..what do you think?

i know for a fact that 2 of my friends who were stuck in namecheck and had current PD got their GC approval emails 3-4 days after the rule was passed. I have EB3 PD of mid 2002 and was stuck in NC for 3+ years, i got a soft LUD one week after the rule was passed. it was the first LUD after 2 years.
NC was hell and i hope people dont go through what we went.

Yes, it would "improve" Name Check with coparision to what we have observed so far. But it still have following loop holes and flaws.

from 485 receipt date. Nobody knows when USCIS will initiate FBI Name
Check. So I see a big playground for USCIS to play if it decides to play.
What if uSCIS sends FBI name check initiation after 2 years of 485 receipt?
Do we have a way to know or keep an eye on USCIS about this? At least I
do not know and if somebody has the information please share it.
(2) "If 485 Otherwise is processable" then USCIS can go ahead without
waiting for NC check... What if USCIS decides to keep 100000 cases on
rack eating dust just by not moving the processing date for particular
service center? This you can see right now.. USCIS is making Texas slow

with comparison to Nebraska around May to August 2007. If this happens your case is no more "processable".. Yes you can say that you are not stuck in NC queue but you will be stuck. The answer is in your question. Numbers. A few years ago (circa 2002-) no one complained much about Indians. Recently the complaints in the media/forums etc. are much higher. Why ? More H1, => more bodyshoppers (mainly India) => more abuse => more complaints and so on.
Also FYI, H1 is "temporary" just like F1. H1 is not a guarantee to GC. So you need to go back after 6 years, since you say F1 should leave after graduation.
