As we all know that priority dates became current in the latest visa bulletin. My lawyer made all my paper work ready and is about to file my paperwork with USCIS today. I am not sure if we can file the application a week before it actually becomes current.
I heard some people say that it's actually allowed to file 3 or 4 days before it becomes current. I also read reports that some people's application was rejected because it was sent too early. I am not sure what to believe here. Does anybody has any information on this?
Wait till 1st July. My friend who send his application on 29th May still waiting for receipt number but other friends who filed in June first week got their receipt number.

where did you see these 30/45 days numbers? you can apply an H1 extension upto 180 days in advance of the expiry of your current H1 (basically 180 days before the new start-date)
Let me clarify you guys, 180 days advance to expiry is good, I am referring to applying in the last minute, ideally it should be atleast 30 days ahead of expiry date in order to avoid the complications.
Secondly I am referring to applying for H1B Extension AFTER Expiry date which is good for 45 days. Hope you got it now.

Just got back from UK on Friday after a month of family time, medicals and our embassy interview! Wanted to let you all know that we were approved and happily back in the US!!

It intrigues me that there are not many members here in a similar situation i.e consultants moving to new city/state while continuing GC process. Or may be the response is not much as this part of the forum is not accessed much by many members.

The Senator from Nebraska introduced earlier High-Tech Worker Relief bill. The employment-based immigrant community and the businesses and academic institutions had some level of hope and expectation that this bill might be acted upon as separate from the CIR. However, there is a report that Senator Hagel stated that the Senator introduced the bill intended to be handled as part of the CIR legislation process. It thus appears that all the bills which have been introduced recently were also intended by the bill sponsors to be debated and reflected in the CIR legislation process in May in the form of amendments. There we go. The Senator yesterday introduced S.1225 for the illegal immigration reform part of his own comprehensive immigration reform scheme under the name of Immigrant Accountability Act of 2007. Probably more immigration reforms bills may be introduced by other legislators before and during the Comprehensive Immigration Reform debate in the Senate next month. As we summarized on 04/22/2007, there have been developing compromises along the lines of key issues which we highlighted in the posting and media start predicting that because of these compromises, the CIR may have a better chance to pass this year than last year.
Well, we are only inches away from the door steps of May 2007. After all, we should just focus on the upcoming CIR process rather than these piecemeal legislative bills.
actually there can be no more disappointing news for us, as we sitting at the rock bottom , at the worst things could stay as they are if not improved.

it does not matter any more how many bills are going to tabled, because ultimately on CIR will have any chance if any for a debate.

I had filled A # from I-140 in my 485 application form, but my 485 receipts shows different A #, both my I-140 and different number from 485 receipt starts with 088, I am primary applicant and my spouse's A # are different too and her numbers also starts with 088.

It is partly true. You get stuck in name check , somebody get stuck at I-140, All in all this whole system is purposefully created to keep doors locked "legallly". The first and foremost question should be how the hell government has decided 140000 visas not 40000 and not 240000 but only 140000 and why the hell discrimination against people from only 4 countries?
Infact employment based immigration is for sufficing the need of the market then let market decides what immigration numbers should be set as ceiling... If US economy need 7 milion in year 2007, ceiling should be 7 million and next year US market may need only 7000 then for that year ceiling should be 7000. I believe if they may freshen up the whole EB GC mess with starting restructuring based on this concept then only in future we can expect flawless legal immigration...

Can you please help, if there are some instructions handy. I am having difficulty for following fields
1. Manner of Last Entry : I think it should be PAR:PAROLEE YES. I USED SAME FOR MY WIFE
2. Current Immigration Status : Again think should be PAR:PAROLEE YES
3. There is a field where it asks for previous EAD's. I am not sure of the date when i applied last time, what date i should put, the date from which EAD is valid ?
I take this has to be the date of application. We didn't remember the exact application date for one of the EADs - we entered an approximate Date
4. Also i have applied for EAD twice, do we need to put the information for both of them. The information is not required...but its better to enter it
5. Other Names/Aliases : I think it should be 'None' in my case as i never had any other name, am i right or should it be left blank.
6. for Eligibility status i think the value should be : (c)(9) FILED I-485 YES
I am in EB2, pririty date Aug 2006. last entry to US Jan 2010 using Advance Parole.

Your spouse was in US when your application reached USCIS so you should be fine.
Am I in the same situation? My spouse left US today to INDIA. However we filled the 485 on July 2nd. Will they consider that as abandonment of the application?

Just Kidding - as long as you are wearing decent clothes no one should reject your visa (which otherwise should have been approved) for wearing a jeans or for not wearing formal dress.
But when someone created a thread for this - let me share "one dress" people shouldn't wear.- this is something you would want to avoid, this was told to me 9yrs back when i first came to this country and appeared for Interview first time.
That dress is - "Red Shirt"

My wife got RFE before leaving for India. Unless you know what the RFE is about, do not leave the country under any circumstances. RFE dates cannot be extended without compelling reasons. If you do not answer RFE, your petition has the chance of being considered "abandoned". Call the service center, not customer service, and find out about the content of RFE and tell them that you updated the address but you still did not get it.
They have access to read what is in the RFE. For my wife, the IO at NSC read the RFE content and told that it is about birth certificate. So, call and find out what is in there and take care of it first. Under any circumstances do not leave the country without answering the RFE otherwise you may not be able to come back, because it may lead to your petition considered abandoned. This risk is greatest if you use AP.
If your wife is traveling on H4, then she can enter using that VISA as long as if you maintain valid H1B. But if you are on EAD and she is traveling on AP, do not take risk. Do not listen to multiple people because you get half-cooked answers. I went through that situation and I am telling you, get to the bottom of the RFE, fast.
