We had an interview last December for exactly this purpose and the reason was two consecutive failures of clear biometrics on our part. It was for the better though because now our case is just waiting for a visa number unless something changes rather drastically. However, we did not encounter the term "initial interview".
Do indeed take all your documents. I am pasting here the list of docs our attorney asked us to take. These are rough notes I took over the phone so you might find some incoherence. Some of these docs were significant to our case and may not be applicable for you. I would always prefer to go for an overkill in immigration matters, so if anything seems remotely significant, take it along. We need to post a sticky note on file saying we are a family of 3 so we are seen together

I am using AC21. I start my new Job on Monday. I have had an independent attorney of my own for the past 3 years from whom I get a second opinion from time to time. I have already hired them for my AC21. I really liked the attorney I was working with through my old employer as well and at this time I do not know if my I-140 will be revoked. My employer will keep me in the loop with anything. My attorney has already prepared an AC21 package. Take a look at Page 3 of the Yates Memo. I am expecting no problems when leaving my current company. but just incase they decide to revoke my 140,
- is it ok to file AC21 after i receive the NOID if some thing happens or is it better to file AC21 now?
one other complication is i will be changing address too. how long does it take for USCIS to update my new address in their records? the reason i am asking is if they send me RFE or NOID, i will totally miss the boat if they send it to the wrong address. i am sure they will send a copy to my attorney, but he works form my current employer and I will assume he is less likely to help. Does it help if i file G28 with my own name and my new address?
I need to join my new job in 10 days and i hev give my crrent company a notice so it is a bit urgent. Please help.

I did not understand your answer.
How come your 4 year old son apply in EB2 category and sponsor the parents. I know the application is for future employment. But this one is stretching too far? :)

Just now my lawyer called to tell that she got all my receipts , filed on july 2nd but my wifes application was rejected for "insufficient filing fees", I had put in a single check for $745 , how can this be, it was both in the same fedex packet, she says it is some "mailroom error", so she sent back the application with a letter and my receipt copy to accept. My app also had a $745 check and that was receipted,

Yes pending 485 at TSC.
The IRS can't produce transcripts older than 3 years.
There's a form you can fill out and pay $39/return and takes up to 60 days, but even on this one it says: "records older than 7 years may not be available as it's admissable by law that they be distroyed".

Documentation informing the USCIS of your having utilized AC21 benefits isn't necessary, but is a proactive measure usually taken to have a clean slate on the applicant's part.
It is true that in a majority of the cases the AC21 documentation might never reach the applican't 485 file, but in an unforeseen circumstance such as the denial of one's 485 based on 140 revocation (which, as we know isn't very uncommon) and matters reaching an immigration court, proof that one had taken proactive steps and gone out of one's way to inform the USCIS might make one's case stronger and thus make it easier to have the case reopened.
I was fortunate enough to not have to make that decision -whether to send AC21 documentation or not, the attorneys (Fragomen) representing the new employer recommended sending it making it easy for me.
Just my 2 cents,

If you entered on AP your status is AOS/EAD,you can transfer your H1 but you can't be on H1 status unless and until you go out of the country and enter on H1.

I am from Brazil as well. My PD is April 2002. This cut-off date is making my professional life miserable. My wife questions on whether it is worthed the wait or we should just go to the South in Brazil and enjoy professional freedom there.
I hope that the potential unused visas from EB2 World can get transferred to EB3 World in October. Also, who knows perhaps the visa numbers on October 2006 can make our dates advance to 2002 ? Let's see, but in this process, nothing is certain. The only thing that it seems certain is that USCIS/DOS made a remark that advancement in cut-off dates should slow down or even retrogress further this Summer. Gloom scenario.

If you have worked for 40 quarters, you will be eligible for Soc Security irrespective of where you live. There are american citizens settled in the Carrebean Islands who get their social security checks there. However, the big question is "What if the social security runs of out of money when your time comes", Soc Security Admin will start having negative cash flows starting from 2008 beacuse of the baby boomers retiring in great nunbers and fewer younger people joining the work force in comparison. Or there might be the case that the payouts get reduced from the maximun of $ 1800 presently to a token payment of just $ 300..!
401 K money is yours and you can do what ever you like. You could with draw it in 3-4 installments over as many years, thus reducing the taxable income for the year- provided you can earn higher ROI on that money by investing in stock market of the country you plan to return to as compared to being vested in the US stock market. You may also keep in mind that currency exchange and strengthening/devalaution of the dollar against your home currency will also have an affect on ROI based on when you with draw. That affect is almost impossible to predict for any one.
Many people leave the money here in USA, so that they could use it for their kids when the kids return to USA for their higher education. What you want to do with 401K is entirely your call..

Does it mean that Indian companies do not encourage or support GC process as much as the American companies do? I sure hope that's not the case and employees of those Indian companies are getting a fare shot at the Greencard.
